Alberton High School will be given a morning to remember on March 7, as radio station 947’s Anele and The Club will be broadcasting live from 06:00 to 09:00 from the school.

This great opportunity was made possible by Brand South Africa’s Play Your Part initiative, which is all about encouraging every citizen to show off the ‘spirit of ubuntu’ (humanity). Oval Sublimation Tiles

After being considered a school that does good and plays its part in bringing the spirit of ubuntu to life, 947 chose to celebrate the school with the prominent 947 School Invasion. 947 is a radio station that broadcasts on 94.7 MHz.

Thanks to teachers Kerusha Reddy and Oscar von Platen, who entered the competition, the school will be hosting the celebs next Tuesday morning.

There was lots of cheer and good spirits when the school warmly welcomed presenter Chanley Wong from the 947 crew who broke the news during a school assembly on March 1.

“Alberton High School has been picked as one of the School Invasion participants. The school entered into the competition and the crew gets to visit the school next week,” said Wong.

School principal Jannie Olivier said 947 representatives visited the school earlier in the week to schedule their visit and to make the big announcement.

“They scheduled to invade [visit] the school next Tuesday morning. They are looking for schools in the South, North, East and West and we were just very fortunate to be there and be put in the map. They’re getting applications from the whole of Gauteng and they try to identify schools in certain areas and I’m very excited about it,” he explained.

The crew will arrive early in the morning to set up their equipment and broadcast for a large part of the morning. Looking at learners and their discipline, Olivier said they were really looking forward to hosting the station at their school.
